She has a Master s of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine and is licensed by the California Acupuncture Board. Carla has provided acupuncture at a variety of locations around San Diego, such as San Diego Hospice, Owen s Clinic, Telecare, and Senior s clinic in downtown San Diego, as well as private practice offices. <br /> <br /> Before attending PCOM, Carla received her Bachelor s degree in Human Development at UCSD. It was during this time, studying the intricacies of human nature, where she discovered her passion for how the mind, body, spirit, nature, and one s surroundings, community and environment are all interconnected and how an imbalance in anyone of those aspects can cause an imbalance in any, or all, of another. It was with this knowledge that Carla sought out a profession that connected all of these elements. Within the first semester at school, Carla knew she was in the right place and has never looked back. <br /> <br /> Carla specializes in a multi-disciplinary approach looking at her patient s symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and environment, as well as any lab work to do a complete analysis of the body, mind, and spirit. She helps each patient discover and understand what is uniquely going on in his or her body so that they may bring balance and harmony back into their life. <br /> <br /> <br /> <b>Mary Hooke, L.Ac. </b> <br /> <br /> Mary first began her passion for alternative medicine by completing a comprehensive educational program in Ayurvedic medicine in Los Angeles where she worked educating patients on diet and lifestyle and treating patients with herbal medicine and Ayurvedic bodywork techniques. She continued her studies in Oriental Medicine in Santa Fe, NM where she completed a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. She is currently a licensed DOM in New Mexico as well as a licensed acupuncturist in California. She is also nationally certified in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine by the NCCAOM. <br /> <br /> After moving to San Diego, Mary continued her work with patients focusing on all aspects of health including pain management, chronic fatigue, diet, nutritional therapy and mental health issues such insomnia, depression, anxiety and PTSD. In addition to a background in alternative medicine, Mary also has an extensive business background and has been a successful small business owner for over 12 years.
